All Music Guide
When they stretch farthest away from their origins, as they do on the plodding power ballad 'Sudden Movements,' their sound takes a turn for the best.

Brendan O’Brien, best known for his continuous work with Pearl Jam and Springsteen, takes over from Gavin Brown on Billy’s third s/t offering, and there’s some noticeable dulling of the edges here.

III is unspectacular, yet it’s laudable that Billy Talent’s chins to remain unencumbered by the ballbags of big business.
It may not be an unpleasant listen, but it's a strangely soulless one. [Aug 2009, p.101]
Uncut
Maybe they should have bigger ambitions. [Spe 2009, p.79]
Drowned In Sound
The intensity on Billy Talent III feels the same as the intensity of the band's live show, awkwardly forced and absolutely repellent.

Dylan gave it a10:
I don't know what album the critics are hearing, it isn't the one I heard. Great album, a solid effort. Not quite as good as the first album, but better then the second.
Sim G gave it an8:
I am new to Billy Talent's music. I've heard so much praise of their work, that when I saw their new release, I figured I should give it a try. Well I must say I was impressed. I was expecting something like Sum 41, Good Charlotte, Blink 182 or any of the Punk/Emo bands from the last 10 years that I really don’t understand. Yes they make catchy tunes, but most of them are meaningless. I grew up with Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Soundgarden; bands that have been mixing good music with good lyrics. So, I kinda had problem with anything new lately because Punk music became mainstream and quickly forgotten. Ok, I’m not here to start a debate. I probably feel the same way about Good Charlotte, as my mother and her Beatles feels about Nirvana. This simply meaning that I’m getting older and that most music doesn’t talk to me anymore. Again and back on Billy Talent III, I was surprise and I believe this is one of the few bands that has the potential to become the next Green Day and still be around in 15 years from now. Their lyrics are inspired and I can’t get the beat of their music out of my head. I have been reading the professional reviews and I don’t understand why it didn’t scored higher. After enjoyer III, I bought the first 2 as well, and for some reason I don’t find them as interesting as this one. This might explain the low score, this album is lot different from their previous work, but I like it better. Every single tune is catchy and has a nice writing.
Chris H gave it an8:
Don't believe these reviews! avid billy talent fan. Don't think it quite lives up to 1 & 2 but still a solid album not one song i don't like on the album my fav is dead cant testify! If you like billy talent you will like this album.
MG L. gave it a7:
Very good commercial rock, with old punk roots. Think Incubus with old school punk balls.
