Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage is a great opportunity to discover one of the best videogames about snowboarding and one of the best well-finished games in Wii. If you love snow, you'll love this title.

Snowboarding fans, both of the arcade and simulation variety, would do well to pick up this title.

A game that scores with its great controls and the nice story – and it doesn’t try to be something it’s not!

Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage extends what its predecessor does and delivers a more complete package. It still needs to dot the i's to become a top game though. The array of accessories is nice, but doesn't offer increased bonuses on the tracks. The biggest innovation is the Wii Motion Plus, enabling you to make your own tricks. Don't have the money to go skiing in the French Alps? Maybe this will entertain you instead.

With more of everything, plus a couple of neat new features, World Stage is an icy blast.

Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage blends high flying tricks, crazy jumps, and unique controls into a great snowboarding game that will delight extreme sports fans and casual gamers.

With existing content that is still great and a new stunt creation feature that is awesome and amazing, Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage is a great sequel to a really great game.

Apart from MotionPlus support, there isn't a whole lot new in World Stage. Ubisoft has certainly played it safe with a short and unimaginative campaign. But it's hard to knock the Balance Board controls-they totally make the Shaun White experience, and make it a pleasure to revisit the virtual slopes, sameness and all.

Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage is an interesting game, accessible for everyone for its control and the simplicity of its approach.

All things considered, World Stage is better than its predecessor in nearly every way—but it’s also a year later now, and the improvements, while palpable, are still marginal.

It's all fun and games until someone remembers how good SSX used to be. [Christmas 2009, p.62]
IGN
Shaun White was good fun on Wii last year and it's still a nice ride a year later. Not a lot has changed, though, and you may be a little underwhelmed if you've already been down the mountain. I also want to stress that this is a kids' game, although it's one of the better kids' games around.

Basically Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage seems a little bit too similar to "Road Trip". On the one hand it's quite good if you haven't played it yet, but it's not enough if you bought last year's game.

Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage is a fun game that will likely please anyone wanting to have a light-hearted snowboarding experience on their Wii. Keep in mind that World Stage is aimed at the younger audience so don’t expect the same showing as last years Xbox 360 or PS3 version.

Awesome controls and a bunch of fancy tricks make World Stage a lot of fun, but little has changed from last year's release.

Entertaining, if lacking in ambition. We wish more Wii games controlled this well. [Christmas 2009, p.68]
PALGN
World Stage is a little too similar to the original Wii title, but for the fans and the newcomers, it's a fun and slick game to try out.

Ubisoft plays it safe by offering only small changes in sight to the winning formula last year. The chronic lack of online mode is still there. The series still has much potential that still hasn't developed yet.

Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage may appear to be a kids game and while it’s certainly kid friendly I think it’s going to appeal to snow boarders of all ages.

Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage manages to convince on the looks en variety part but seriously lacks on a distinctive gameplay-style. The controls in combination with the Wii Balance Board are a bit hard to master for those who are inexperienced boarders. Luckily the Wii-controller on it’s own works just fine, which is a big plus for anyone looking for a snowboard experience on the Wii.

Enjoyed only with the Wii remote controller the experience falls short of establishing an innovation in the genre, but based on the use of the balance board in collaboration it can provide a nice innovation. It’s highly appealing and simple to implement.

Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage is easy, lighthearted and quite funny to play, in single or in local co-op mode. A good chance to dust off your Balance Board.
Snowboarding stood out on Wii by taking a different approach to style, content, and (obviously) controls compared to other platforms. Unfortunately, not much has changed in this iteration, despite Wii MotionPlus support and a career mode in which you slowly climb the ranks to become number one. [Holiday 2009, p.85]
VideoGamer
Like its predecessor, World Stage is one of the best multiplayer racers on Nintendo's family-friendly console. But you can't escape the feeling that it's a lazy effort.

Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage for Wii is another quality boarding title. However, the few improvements don't add up to a lot more than what was available last year; this really isn't a very inspired sequel.

Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage is a game that will take you through the cold winter days this year. Especially city's like London and New York will bring you an extra vibe. The biggest disappointment is the lack of an online multiplayer. Still the game itself is nice enough to play.

It's spot the difference time again, with another sequel that fails to offer any real improvements.
Shaun White returns with a children's game that is more simple and short. Diversion and good use of the Wii Balance Board and WiiMotion Plus for all the family. It needs more levels and less movement. Graphics and sound are acceptable.

Shaun White's ideas are starting to look a little thin on the ground. You'll still likely enjoy playing World Stage for the four or five hours it will take to see a fair amount of what's on offer, but when it's all over, it may be harder to argue that the game itself is particularly special.

Shaun may have walked away with the gold, but his games still can’t qualify.

While I can appreciate the attraction Wii-owning Shaun White fans might feel when faced with the latest entrant in Ubisoft's burgeoning snowboarding franchise, there's simply not enough new and worthwhile content in World Stage to justify me doing anything but twisting consumer shoulders towards last year's offering instead.

While not flawed, it's devoid of substance. For the rest of us, there are superior options -- from this generation as well as the last -- to indulge in armchair snowboarding thrills.

Shane H gave it a10:
World Stage is dope. I like it better than the last game, which I gave an 8 (I liked it a lot and am glad I played it, but this game is so much better). As a snowboarding game it’s great because the moves feel real and natural. As a sports game it’s different and handles better on the Wii than most. Hit the slopes and have a good time.
[anonymous] gave it a9:
THis is a very enjoyable game. I was skeptical as a snowboarder but as "unrealistic" as the game is compared to how the slopes really go, it's a hell of a lot of FUN. The soundtrack is sick too. Check it out for sure.
Ryan S gave it a9:
Shaun White knocks it out of the park with his latest game. I got this as an early gift for the holidays and have been playing it for 2 weeks. Not only has it held my attention this whole time, but it gets better as you go through the competitions and reach tougher challenges. This is a fine game, especially for sports game fanatics like me.
Alison M gave it a10:
World Stage is so full of win it’s ridiculous. Any fan of snowboarding should check this out. I almost didn’t. I have a limited budget and have to choose carefully. My GF gave this to me for a holiday gift. Thank goodness for the babe, if it hadn’t been for her I would have totally missed out on a great experience.
Dougie Fresh gave it an8:
I got this for Christmas and it’s the best gift I got. I played it all weekend, I can see that I‘m going to have a lot of fun with it. The game plays well and the Motion Plus can be used to create your own tricks. Some events can be tedious, but most of them are fun even if you have to do them over and over to get the scores you need. Great fun and challenges, an all around good game.
Molly M gave it a9:
World STAGE bay-bay! Shaun White releases another great snowboarder, and I’m stoked about the Wii Motion Plus support this time around. World Stage lets you get your competition on, and does it with more style than any other snowboarder out there. All the while it keeps it real, dispensing with ridiculous tricks that would be unattainable in the real world. You can feel the powder blow past your face in this game, it’s sharp sharp sharp.
Justin L gave it a10:
Nice job on this one! Road Trip was a good first try, but World Stage utilizes the Balance Board better and adds Motion Plus to the mix, even allowing you to create your own tricks. It’s an outstanding implementation of a very good peripheral. The game is fast, fun and funny. I can’t think of a reason that anyone wouldn’t want to play this game unless you absolutely loath sports games. Even those with a mild interest in sports games will find this a treat though.
