Total Video Games
It's taken Eidos and Beautiful Game Studios five games to do it, but they've finally produced a well rounded football management game that gives as good as it gets against its high profile rival. Not only are there a wide range of original ideas in this latest Champ Man title, but the game also recreates levels of addiction that we haven't seen in the series since Champ Man 03/04.

For all that depth then, CM2010 is remarkably solid under the hood, and that’s what will really see it through in the long-run.

Lacks that bit of polish to make the Premier League but it's heading in the right direction. [Dec 2009, p.75]
PC Format
A very solid footie management game. A million miles away from the last CM, yet still in FM's shadow. [Dec 2009, p.90]
PC Zone UK
More accessible than Football Manager. [Christmas 2009, p.82]
Eurogamer Portugal
This new version is a breath of fresh air for this franchise that has been losing the battle for his rival Football Manager for a long time.

It's yet another feather in the cap of a series that's now performing at international level; providing a wide range of options that compliment each other well, resulting in a more cohesive whole that's now a true alterative to Football Manager.

Championship Manager is finally back. It still misses some options and the menus are not that good, but the core gameplay is what fans where looking for.

Championship Manager 2010 is the best evolution of Scudetto we can imagine. With a good graphics engine and a well balanced gameplay the game offers hours and hours of fun and challenge to any football fan.

The game is not without its faults and glitches and only just scrapes an 8 - but if you're looking for an entertaining and slightly different skew on the Football Manager template and an experience that's more forgiving and accessible than FM09, then this might be exactly what you've been waiting for.

For its flaws and foibles, CM10 can do this to you. It sucks you in. The game clock ruthlessly counting up hours without you realising, the mark of any good football management sim.

While still weak in some key areas, Championship Manager 2010 is the first of the series that deserves the name.

Lots of effort has been put in developing Championship Manager 2010, to the point that the game was delayed for several months… That’s probably why we were expecting a bit more from this title, and especially from its AI. Yet, it still is an accurate and thorough simulation of a football manager’s life!

The best Champ Manager for over half a decade with a few features even Football Manager should envy.

Maybe Championship Manager is not able to dethrone its competitors this years, but it should be a satisfying alternative with enough features.

It's not a Football Manager beater, but it's Championship Manager in its best for for ages. [Issue#24, p.58]
PC PowerPlay
Certainly not without flaws, but by far the best of Eidos' CM games. Worth a look. [Dec 2009, p.67]

Championship Manager 2010 is your typical management game. There are tons of thing to set up and lots of decisions to be made, but at the end of the day it's just a good management game that falls short of it's competitors.

Championship Manager 2010 is the most disappointing entry in the series we've ever played, but it's also the best in years.

This is a good simulation game that has some remarkable options. The Prozone-option gives you all the information about a played game that you need and through Season Live you can refresh all statistics monthly. The game lacks in overall quality though, so it remains behind the competition in the genre.

Championship Manager 2010 is in some ways a good game and in some ways totally not. With Prozone, CM Season Live and the ability to train your players on dead moments in the game, it gives something that a lot of these games miss these days. It’s also behind itss competitors in some ways, it’s not the game that I hoped it to be and it doesn’t put CM2010 back on the map.

A nice soccer managing simulation, but still miles behind SEGA's Football Manager.
CM2010 is certainly the best game developed by BGS. But it still has a long way to go if it wishes to break the dominance of Football Manager. With the very long loading times, and no way of knowing how long you’ll be waiting for due to the lack of any progress bar, a horrible menu layout, plus the fact ProZone is still being used, despite me still not being able to find any actual use for it, CM 2010 is a Football Manager beater, but only if it was 2005, not 2010.

The game looks and feels much better on the surface than in previous years and is--for the first time in a long time--showing serious promise for the future, despite falling short this time around.

It's jarring to see a once-proud name dragged through the mud by developers with neither the experience, nor likely the budget, to put things right. [Dec 2009, p.129]

Thomas E. gave it a7:
This a vast improvement from previous Champ Man iterations since the split with sports interactive but I suspect it still has some way to go to beat FM. However, the 3D match engine is actually very good although I found the layout of the menus and controls very unintuitive. A good alternative to FM this year but not quite good enough.
