Summary

RATING: Rated G

Starring Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Don Rickles, Jim Varney, Wallace Shawn, and John Ratzenberger

This extraordinary double feature, taking the latest advances in digital 3D technology "to infinity and beyond," will play exclusively in 3D. "Toy Story," the industry's first ever computer-animated feature and the first feature released by Pixar Animation Studios in 1995, and "Toy Story 2," the critically acclaimed sequel that debuted in 1999, were both directed by filmmaker John Lasseter. Both films have been meticulously re-rendered in 3D from the original digital files using the latest state-of-the-art technology. (Disney/Pixar)

Time Out New York Nick Schager

Their real magic trick is that they’re not “toy” stories, but fundamentally human ones.

Variety Todd McCarthy

A fresh look at the two "Toy Story" films, which are being released today as a double bill in 3D for a two-week engagement, only reaffirms what fresh, lively and imaginative creations they are.

New Orleans Times-Picayune Mike Scott

These are paradigm-shifting masterpieces, films that launched a second golden age of animation. Of course they hold up.

Boston Globe Tom Russo

Happily, Toy Story and current technology do make a terrific match. Seeing the imagery dimensionalized subtly adds to the already tangible curviness of Woody and Buzz’s molded plastic world. And since the movies were conceived in 2-D, there’s no “comin’ atcha’’ gimmickry.

Chicago Tribune Michael Phillips

These Disney/Pixar features work in 3-D in part because they work, period. (Toy Story 2 is one of the few sequels of any sort to meet or exceed the original; it’s the “Godfather Part II” of computer animation.) But they also work because their visual dynamism adjusts handily to the added dimension.

How do you describe spending the afternoon with my two small children watching these films for the MILLIONTH time overall, but for the first time in 3D???? Pure joy.

Archie M gave it a10:
OK. You are getting a double feature. In this day and age two for one I take any day. A 15 minute intermission. 2 classic films A preview of Toy Story 3. I agree with Tom F No way you vote less than a 10.

Tim gave it a10:
Why is the Chicago Tribune review listed as 88 when its a 4 out of 5? Anyway, this is a fantastic movie that is actually deserving of the hype it is garnering for a change.

Michael W gave it a10:
I hadn't seen these movies since I was a little kid and now, seeing them again, I appreciate them a lot more. Not just because they were revolutionary for the industry, but because they are just very good stories. I really got a lot out of the messages in the movie. These are amazing movies for people of all ages.

G W gave it a10:

Owen M gave it a10:
